To expose current alarming levels of communal polarization based on vicious campaigns destroy the foundations of the declaration announced by PM Modi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that BJP is using communal hatred as a weapon and spreading it across the country to divert the attention of people from real issues. He said, he has not seen violence or hatred anywhere in the country while walking hundreds of kilometers from Kanyakumari to Delhi but he saw it being spread on TV all the time at the behest of the powers controlling the media.

Former Congress Chief also said that PM Modi and the ruling BJP spent crores of rupees to destroy his image but he has shown the truth to the country in just a month. Hatred in the name of Hindu-Muslim is being spread through television 24 x 7 to divert the attention of people from the real issues. Mr. Gandhi added, “After doing Hindu-Muslim 24 hours, they will hand over your money and sell all your sea ports, airports, roads and other assets to their crony friends. They try to divert your attention all the time,” he said. “This is not a Modi government; it is the Ambani-Adani government. Moreover, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said, “The current alarming levels of communal polarization based on vicious campaigns of hate, terror and violence destroy the foundations of the declaration announced by the PM.

The economic slowdown is creating another set of inequalities with growing levels of unemployment and poverty. According to US think-tank Pew, Research Center, India was among a handful of countries that saw religious hostilities in the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. In a US congressional briefing, President of Genocide Watch, Gregory H. Stanton, sounded alarm bells about a possible genocide against Indian Muslim minorities. Rising communal violence against religious minorities has threatened India’s secularism and made India a more intolerant country. BJP has also advanced its communal agenda by targeting other minorities, leading to a sharp rise in attacks on Christian minorities as well.  BJP’s affiliate Bajrang Dal, has been demonizing and terrifying Indian Christians from Karnataka to Uttarakhand. During Christmas season, violent attacks on Christians were reported throughout the country. The increasing hate attacks on Christian minorities are due to deepened communal polarization, continuing their previous attacks on Muslims to other religious minorities in India. The judiciary must punish the perpetrators of violence to end the normalization of Hindutva politics.
